Tulip Floor Torchiere in Polished Brass

The Laurel Lamp Company was one of the most prolific manufacturers of designer lighting in the Mid-Century. Their aesthetic continues to influence the modern boom of the lighting industry today with current designers drawing much inspiration from Laurel’s playful-for-the-time forms and explorative use of expressive materials. Large and small, their lamps have always made a subtle statement in Mid-Century design.

While we’ve had some great designs from Bill Curry’s work for Laurel, this Tulip Floor Torchiere was designed by Gerald Thurston, who in his own right has an expansive lighting portfolio which features designs still very much current to this day. This floor lamp’s slender presence allows it to recede in the room while still maintaining generous height. The frosted glass shade effortlessly defuses light and prevents harsh direct eye contact with the bulb. To showcase this piece in its best light, we’ve expertly re-plated the hardware in Polished Brass. The glistening brass paired with the minimal glass shade makes for a gorgeous lighting piece that will add sculpture to any room that seeks it.
